TYPO3 - Overview
TYPO3 is a free Open Source content management system (CMS) on base of PHP and MySQL. TYPO3's development was started by Kasper Skårhøj in 1997. It offers a very high flexibility and a lot of add-ons. The maintenance of a website is carried out via this system 100% webbased and can be done from anywhere without any additional software by means of a webbrowser.
Apart from functions like extensive authorization system and continuous template-based creation of sites also multilingual content and version control of publications are considered accordingly. In addition extensive documentation and step-by-step video guides are available, which are of great use not only for beginners but also for those, who already worked with TYPO3.

Typo3 - Installation & Summary of Features
Installing/Uninstalling TYPO3
Open your Domaintechnik Control Panel and click on the link TYPO3. You are now in your TYPO3 Manager, with which TYPO3 can be installed and uninstalled, respectively. First click on the link Create new, enter the desired path and select the version needed, in order to copy the files to your webspace.
As soon as all files were copied, click on Install to start the original setup and do the configuration. If you want to uninstall the software again, click on Uninstall and select whether the database should be deleted.
TYPO3 Package Versions
The versions available for installation differ as follows:
"dummy" … contains an empty database and is ideal for build-up of new projects.
"quickstart" … contains an example site and is suited for getting knowledge of all functions.
"testsite" … contains several examples in order to practice also advanced functions.
With Typo3 4.0 at present only the "dummy" installation is available.
View TYPO3
Open your TYPO3 Manager and click on the link Start page or enter the address of your domain and the path chosen at installation in a browser, e.g. www.yourdomain.com/typo3/
(Replace "yourdomain.com" with the actual domain and "typo3" with your installation path of TYPO3.)
Administrator Range
In order to get to the Administrator Range of TYPO3, click on the link Administration and log on with the access data chosen at installation of TYPO3.

Typo3 - Hints for version 4.0
Empty Reference Index Table
After successful installation of Typo3 4.0 the following error message may appear:
"The Reference Index table is empty which is likely to be the case because you just upgraded your TYPO3 source. Please go to Tools -> DB Check and update the reference index."
This reference disappears, as soon as you provide a new content or click Check under DB check and UPDATE NOW under update global reference index .

.) In the Extension Manager (Ext Manager) under "Menu" choose the entry "Translation Handling".
.) At "Languages to fetch" choose the entry "German - [German]".
.) Click "Save selection".
.) Under "TRANSLATION STATUS" click on "Update from repository" (right button).
.) In the menu on the left side "User" -> "Setup" choose under "Language" the entry "German - [German]" and confirm by clicking the button "Save Configuration" on the bottom.
.) The backend now is in German.
