Directory Protection Manager - Overview

With the help of your Directory Protection Manager, you can password-protect any subdirectories of your www directory against unauthorized access. You can also create multiple users to grant them access for individual directories, and set up an associated password for each user.

Directory Protection Manager - Summary of Features

Create/Update Users

In your Directory Protection Manager you can create as many users and associated passwords as you would like to. Therefore, simply click on the link Manage users.

  • create a user: If you have not created a user yet, click on the link Create user, otherwise enter the new user name and a safe password associated to this user and click on Add/Update.

  • update a user: In order to change a users's password, enter the user name to be updated and type in a new safe password, and then click on Add/Update. If you want to delete a user, click on Delete next to the corresponding user name.


Set up Password Protection

In order to set up password protection for a certain directory, you first have to create one or more users (see above).

Then click on the link Manage directories and load the directory to be edited. Then select one or more users who should have access to this directory, and click on Save settings. Now only this/those user(s) has/have access to the directory, and is/are prompted to type in a username and password.

You can authorize additional users or remove existing ones by activating or deactivating the chechbox next to the corresponding name in the user list.

Remove Password Protection

In order to completely remove password protection for a specific directory, click on the link Manage directories and load the directory to be edited. Then click on Delete directory protection. Now the directory can be accessed by anyone again.
