Piwik web analysis software hosting - Overview

Piwik is an open source web counter and analysis tool for your homepage. It is based on PHP and MySQL. Piwik is an excellent and free alternative to Google Analytics

Piwik offers various advantages in relation to other web analysis tools. For example the web analysis reports are generated in real time. Thus you can decide how frequent the reports should be processed. A further advantage of Piwik is that the functions are totally enclosed in plug-ins. Thus you can easily add functions or remove not needed ones. But Piwik can do more. For example you can adapt the control elements of the user interface to your individual needs simply by drag & drop.

Piwik can be integrated into your website in three different ways: with JavaScript, with a simple image tracker code or with the Piwik Tracking API which allows you to integrate Piwik into your website via PHP or another programming language like Python, Java, Ruby or Perl.

Installation of Piwik in the Hosting Control Panel for your homepage

Installing Piwik
Open your Domaintechnik® Control Panel, click on software module and choose Piwik. You are now within the installation wizard which helps you install or remove Piwik for your hosting package. Choose a version and click on Next. Now enter the desired path and confirm with a click on Next to copy the files onto your hosting package.

As soon as all files are copied, you can start the configuration setup by clicking the shown link. When you are finished with the basic configuration, go back into the software module, click on Next and finish the installation by clicking Finish Wizard.

Removing Piwik
If you want to remove Piwik, position your cursor over the button Action and choose Remove. Follow the step-by-step wizard to remove the software.

Piwik administration and view

View Piwik
In a browser, enter the address of your domain and the installation path of Piwik e.g. yourdomain.tld/piwik/
(yourdomain.tld has to be replaced with your real domain, piwik has to be replaced with the installation path of Piwik.).

Administration area
To access the administration area of Piwik, go into your Piwik site and login with the access data you chose while installing Piwik.
