Protected Directories - Overview

With this module, you can protect folders located within your www-directory from unauthorized access, using a password prompt. Users and their corresponding passwords can be freely defined.


Protected Directories - Summary of Features

Manage Users
Choose tab Users to create, update and delete users.

  • Create User
    Hit create user to create a new user for protected directories. You'll have to choose an user-name and a password for your new user. Please also repeat your password for sure. Finish creation of your you new user by clicking on Create.

  • Update Password
    Position your cursor over the Action-Button and choose the option update. Type in your new password and repeat it to confirm your input. Click Save to update your settings.

  • Delete User
    Position your cursor over the Action-button and choose the option delete. Confirm your action by clicking Delete.
    Warning: If you delete a user of a directory that does not have any other users assigned, protection of the directory is completely removed.


Manage directories
Choose the Directories-tab to create, update or delete directory protection for a folder.

  • Add directory protection
    Click on add directory to set up protection for a directory. Click on the field directory to get a list of all directories on your web space. Choose the desired directory and and confirm your selection by clicking select.

    Specify a title for this protected area in the field Title. This title will be shown when the user is prompted to log in. At the Users section you can select the users which should be allowed to access this protected directory. Review all settings and click Add to finish the process.

  • Update protected directory
    Position your cursor over the Action-button and choose the option update. Make any changes to the settings as described above, and confirm your new settings by clicking on Update.

  • Delete protected directory
    Position your cursor over the Action-button and choose the option delete.
    Confirm your action by clicking Delete.
