Email Manager - General settings and information

On the landing page of the email manager you find the settings-button. After clicking this, you can modify general settings for your email accounts.
Note: These settings apply to all accounts!

Catchall settings
Here you can define the default handling for incoming emails that are sent to non-existing email accounts within your domain (e.g. someone sent an email to the address nfo@yourdomain.tld instead of the actual account info@yourdomain.tld).
You can choose from the following options:

  • forward all emails for unknown users to postmaster@yourdomain.tld
  • drop emails for unknown users (also no information returned to sender)
  • bounce all emails for unknown users (will return an error message to sender)

General spamfilter settings
The spamfilter blocks incoming emails from partially configured mail servers as well as bot-net computers. Emails are scanned at the connection layer, based on checks concerning the IP address (DNS Blacklist), rDNS (IP has to resolve), sender domain (MX record has to exist and must be able to resolve correctly), and more. Only a very small number of emails is falsely blocked using these filter techniques. It is (other than for testing purposes) not recommended to disable these filters. An error message with a link to our mail-policy is sent as a reply to the sender, if messages are blocked by any of these filter mechanisms.

Quota usage
By clicking the button quota usage on the landing page of the Email Manager you can view a detailed listing of the currently used quota values of all current accounts, including a sum of all quotas used by your email accounts.
