Antivirus - Overview

A free of charge virus scan is automatically available to all Domaintechnik.com hosting customers, scanning incoming and outgoing emails for viruses and, if necessary, automatically rejecting them. This virus scanner does not have to be activated or configured manually.

Important Note
We recommend our customers to activate the optional virus scanner, although charges apply, but to be on the safe side, so that no virus infected emails will be stored in your mailbox. The optional virus scan is provided with a more business-oriented identification database of new viruses and virus signatures, whereas the database of the open source solution is community-driven.

Antivirus - Summary of Features

Free of Charge Antivirus Protection
The free of charge antivirus protection is based on an open source product with several additional adaptations and extensions by the Domaintechnik.com development team. Amongst other things it is possible to identify a virus during a SMTP-session (the transmission of the message onto our server) and to refuse the delivery right away, returning an error message. Thus many virus infected mails can already be treated at reception and unnecessary load is kept off the email server.

Optional Antivirus Protection
All customers who already benefit from our optional antivirus, take advantage of a system with double security through the concurrent use of different scan methods from several different companies.

If you would like to upgrade to this double security, you can activate this virus scan through our website, by Logging into your customer zone, under the section Domainlist / Order, as an optional service (Order optional Package):

Antivirus - Install

You can activate your additional antivirus security by choosing the Antivirus-module in your Domaintechnik Control Panel. The current status of your virus scanner is displayed now. In case that it is not active, you can activate it by clicking the button enable. Confirm your action by clicking Enable.
The additional virus scanner is now active.

Antivirus - Uninstall

You can deactivate the virus scanner in this menu as well (if active).
To do so, click disable and confirm your action to turn off the additional virus scanner for your domain-name.
