| Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Data transfer technology which makes it possible to transfer digital information at high speeds over standard telephone lines. The name "asymmetric" refers to the way bandwidth is used - "downstream" download speeds to the user are usually much faster than "upstream" upload speeds from the user to a server. ADSL can be used simultaneously with voice telephony. See also: DSL. |
